Svalbard 2006

Ultimate Trekking Trip with Spitsbergen Travel and several day trips. A short diary.

Hiking trip to Trollsteinen:

     

    

Hiking trip to Platafjellet.

Transfer to the Trekking Camp I (Raudfjorden) with the old coastal steamer M/V Nordstjernen. Landings at Sallyhammna and Alicahamna. Crossing 80° North.

     

Hikingtrip to Solanderfjellet.

Long hiking trip to Breibogen. Watching a polarbear 75 m in front of us.

     

      

Hiking trip to the inner part of Raudfjorden and Raudfjordbreen.

Hiking trip to the grave of an old trapper: Erik Mathilas from Tromsø. Near this grave there is a grave from a russian pomor.

     

Transfer with M/V Nordstjernen to the Trekking Camp II at Blomstrand. Landing near 14th Julybreen.

Landing at Ny Alesund.

Hiking trip to Nordvagfjellet, 400 m a.s.l.

    

    

    

Long hiking trip to Olssonfjellet (two summits: 915 and 925 m a.s.l.).

   

    

Hiking trip to Blomstrandbreen with ice climbing.

    

Transfer with M/V Nordstjernen back to Longyearbyen. Last landing near New London where Mansfield tried to win marble.

Zodiac trip Tempelfjorden and Villa Fredheim. Bird cliffs near Diabasodden with Puffins
